How do I apply with Study Vision?

To help guide you through the application process, please view steps 1 to 6 below.

Before considering to become a host, please make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • You are over 21 years of age.

  • A citizen or permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand.

  • Able to provide students with a private bedroom with a bed, linen, table, chair, lamp and access to common areas of your home.

  • All members of your household over the age of 18 possess a valid Working With Children or Police Records Check.

  • You have adequate insurance that will cover the student's belongings as well as the home and contents.

  • You have public liability insurance.

Step 1: Check your location

To begin, visit our Location Checker webpage.

Enter your details in the required fields along with your home address. Our location checking algorithm will calculate the distance by public transport from your home to universities and schools that we work with in your city.

If the distance by public transport is within 40 minutes, your application will be accepted and you may continue to step 2 below.

If the distance by public transport is longer than 40 minutes, you will be notified that your application cannot proceed.

Note: We will retain your contact details and may contact you at a later date if we do expand our presence in your area.

Step 2 - Complete your profile on the host portal

Once you have completed your check, you should receive an email with your username and password for your new host portal.

The host portal will be your main point of contact with Study Vision. You will be able to manage bookings, current guests and update your details.

Before continuing on step 3, make sure the follow sections of your profile are complete:

  • Family members and pets

  • Bedrooms for hosting guests

  • Photos of bedrooms and common areas

  • General home details

Step 3 - Request an assessment from us

After completing your profile, you can request an inspection of your place via the host portal. A member of the Study Vision team will conduct an assessment of your profile to confirm you have correctly completed each section and also whether you will be suitable for our guests.

Step 4 - Booking an inspection

Upon completing our assessment of your profile, a member from our host inspection team will be in contact with you to organise a visit. An inspection team member will go through our Homestay guidelines during the visit to make sure you understand your responsibilities as a host.

You will also need to sign Study Vision's Homestay Agreement, to signify that you are aware of your responsibilities, and agree to our terms.

Re-inspections may be required from time to time.

After your successful inspection, training and completion of the required documentation, you will be qualified to begin hosting with Study Vision.
